Accessibility

Built to work the way you need it to

Accessibility is a core part of the ICS identity — not an optional extra. This page explains what we've done, what you can change, and how to tell us when we've fallen short.

Tools you can turn on

Select Accessibility at the bottom of any page to adjust how this site looks and behaves. Your choices are saved on your device and apply to every page.

  • Colour & contrast — switch between the brand palette, a high-contrast black-on-white theme, a dark theme for light sensitivity, and a low-stimulus theme with muted colour.
  • Text style — swap to OpenDyslexic, a typeface designed for dyslexic readers, or to a plain sans-serif that removes decorative lettering.
  • Reading comfort — increase text size up to 150%, and adjust line, letter and word spacing independently.
  • Hide images — remove decorative pictures to reduce visual clutter.
  • Highlight links — give every link a bright background so it cannot be missed.
  • Reading guide — show a ruler that follows your pointer to help you keep your place.
  • Reduce motion — stop all animation and smooth scrolling. If your device is already set to reduce motion, we honour that automatically.

What we've built in

These apply whether or not you change any settings:

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline at all times.
  • A “Skip to main content” link appears when you first press Tab.
  • Text contrast meets or exceeds WCAG 2.2 AA, and we never use colour as the only signal.
  • Buttons and links have a minimum 44×44 pixel target.
  • Body text starts at 17px and reflows without loss of content when you zoom to 200%.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
  • Headings follow a logical order so you can navigate by structure.
  • Form fields have visible labels, clear error messages, and never rely on placeholder text.
  • Page changes are announced to screen readers as you move around the site.

Conformance

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-off audit, and we test as the site changes.
